Shelly Meister is building her career one step at a time and PCC has been with her for the entire journey.
Since first getting her nurse aide certification from PCC in 2007, Meister has returned to get her basic and intermediate Emergency Medical Technician certifications. Now she鈥檚 reaching another rung on her career ladder by completing PCC鈥檚 paramedic program.
Meister鈥檚 mother was a veterinary technician so she grew up around a vet clinic and initially planned to go into that field. She changed her mind after visiting her grandfather while he spent extended time in the hospital. 鈥淚 decided I wanted to be part of that care and that miracle of helping families and patients,鈥 she said.
Becoming a nurse aide got her in the door. Becoming an EMT allowed her to work in the ER and eventually for a critical care ambulance company. She now splits her time between working for Flight for Life in 杏吧性世界 and Spanish Peaks Ambulance in Walsenburg.
