The program was fantastic! Every one of my instructors were excellent and I learned a lot. It's been very fun doing this program while practicing as a dental hygienist because I have been using my real life experiences as I've gone along. I would absolutely recommend this program to any dental hygienist thinking about getting their Bachelor's degree!

BAS GRADUATE OF PCC'S DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM

What will I learn?

The PCC BAS curriculum is designed to include an emphasis in teaching and public health. The flexible capstone experience can be designed to help you determine your specific area of educational interest.

  • Courses are offered online in convenient eight-week tracks.
  • Classes offer a variety of learning activities facilitated by certified online faculty.
  • The capstone experience is offered in the final 16-week semester. Depending on the capstone project, some on-site experiential learning may be necessary.

Taking an online course is very different from the traditional classroom environment. To accurately anticipate the amount of time to devote to an online course, keep in mind that you will not be attending a face-to-face class. A typical 3-credit hour online course may translate to approximately 6-9 hours of your time per week, on average, for class work and homework.

Program eligibility

  • Graduate from a regionally accredited dental hygiene program that is also accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Exam.
  • Hold a current dental hygiene license in a US state.

Policies

All PCC admission and registration deadlines, policies, and procedures apply to students who participate in online courses. Online courses appear on your transcript in the same way as campus-based courses.

Equipment requirements

You will need access to a computer with broadband internet that can stream video and audio. Your course may also require hardware such as a headset with microphone. Technical support is available for all courses.
